The FFD Chicken Bar B Que continues to be a big success for the Department. Every spring and late summer the dinner sells out with 300 customers served. It has become a Northside tradition with many ordering their tickets weeks prior to the event.

Dan Ravina received the Freeland American Legion Post 473 Citiizen of the Year Award for his dedicated service to the Northside. Dan is involved in FAST and he undertakes many projects including maintaining Martin's Square and the Gallagher-Korol Memorial.

The entire month of May is one the businest months of the year for FFD firefighters. Besides the regular incident responses and training their are many tasks that needs to be competed prior to and during Memorial Day Weekend.
Again this year the potato cake (bleenies) was a complete sell out with many of the tasty treats being devoured by those attending the Annual Memorial Day Celebration sponsored by the Freelnd Chamber of Commerce.

FFD personnel were honored at the Freeland American Legion Post 473 during the Memorial Day Ceremony. Certificates and citations were presented due to the actions of these firefighters at the fatal incident of February 24 and resultant Mayday.
Freeland Fire Department officers and members would like to offer their condolences to Theresa Karosa and her family of the loss of Firefighter Robert Zimmerman who passed away this morning.
Freeland Fire Department officers and members would like to offer its condolences to the family of FFD Life Member James Deitos. Jimmy was an active member of the Freeland Fire Department for over 55 years and recognized as a Life Member for all of his service.

The Spring Chicken Bar B Que was again a huge success with over 300 dinners prepared and served. The meals received great reviews from all who purchased them. Again FFD thanks everyone who purchased the dinners and supports our fund raising efforts.
