The Spring Chicken Bar B Que is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The dinner will feature a half of chicken barbecued over an open pit, baked potato, and corn. This will be a take only dinner with tickets being $10 per meal.

FFD will hold its Annual Lenten Dinner on Friday, March 22, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The event which has become a Northside favorite will again serve fish, fresh cut french fries, cole slaw, and a dessert.

Two weeks ago FFD firefighters started their annual refresher training with electrical operations. From the very basic task of starting the generators to advancing cord reels to stacking the negative pressure fans, all electrical operations were reviewed.

The FPD/FFD breakfast was held this past Sunday and over 300 individuals enjoyed the tasty meal that was served by the boro's finest and bravest. Boro government officials also lent a hand to what was a very busy day.

This evening the Citizens Fire Co. of Tamaqua paid a visit to FFD to review our engine. They are currently compiling specifications for a new engine for their company and wanted to see some of the plumbing and lay out that was incorporated in our rig.

The Freeland Police Department and Freeland Fire Department will be conducting a breakfast on Sunday, 2/3 at the Freeland VFW. Tickets are available at various locations on the Northside, from any boro official, police officer, or firefighter.

Today FFD conducted its first fund raiser of the new year and it was as usual - 600 hoagies sold and enough members to get the job done in less than 3 hours. The hoagie sale is the oldest fund raiser the department has starting back in 1982 to raise funds for the 100th.

Chief Joseph J. Stepansky announced the following appointed officers for this year: Chief Engineer - Cal Herring; Asst. Chief Engineer - Larry Stepansky; Safety Officers - Daniel P. Bobby and William Youmans
President Larry Stepansky at today's department meeting reappointed Rev. Gary Mensinger as our chaplain. Rev. Gary is a veteran of FFD having served as a Lieutenant. He has been a vital member of the department since joining as a junior and served on the 136-1 Engine committee.
Freeland Boro Council recently reappointed Joseph J. Stepansky to another two year term as Chief of the Department. The department elected the chief to another 2 year term at the annual meeting in December.
