FFD's new Truck is getting its final lettering and will be ready for delivery soon.
This evening FFD crews assisted FMA with the semi annual hydrant maintenance program. Prior to the flushing the crews tested a new hydrant at Birkbeck and Johnson Sts. and another at Ridge and Luzerne Sts.
As FFD completes its way through the summer dinner projects one more tasty dish is complete and another one is forthcoming. The chicken finger dinner was another in a long line of successful meal fund raisers with many residents leaving with the home made fingers, french fry potatoes, and dessert.

Last evening 136 Truck arrived at the station for an inspection and a review. The apparatus was thoroughly evaluated and all in attendance were convinced the rig meets the department specifications and would provide an upgrade to our current truck company operation.

Last evening MedEvac made the journey to the Northside to place the final installation on a wind sock donated by them. This device will assist the ground crew with determining wind direction when incoming aircraft is coming in for patient transport from the DellaCroce Memorial Field.
With the cooperation of our hose supplier, All American Hose, FFD embarked upon an ambitious project to swap all our LDH couplings. All American Hose supplied the new couplings and two factory representatives to rid the hose of the troublesome polymer insert.
FFD and White Haven firefighters recently completed a PA Local Level Strategy and Tactics held at White Haven Station. The course focused on procedures for dealing with current fire incidents. Also instructed was the importance of safety officers and how they are to be utilized on the fireground.

Truck 136 -1 will again place the department back its truck company roots - a straight stick with no pump. The truck is a 1998 Seagrave 100' Aerial with less than 10,000 miles. It is powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 400 hp motor through an Allison Automatic 4 speed transmission.
After numerous attempts at securing an AFG for the purchase of a new truck went without success, department officers focused on purchasing a used but functional aerial apparatus. Initially the search started with Command Fire Apparatus who assisted us in the procurement of the current truck.
After months of review and work by the by law committee the revised document is due to be presented at the August meeting and voted upon at the September meeting. This is the first major revision of the by laws since 1995 when the current document was approved.
One of the major areas of concern for department membership was the utilization of social media to unfairly criticize those who dedicate their lives as either career or volunteer in the vocation of the fire service.

FFD loaded up the rigs and went to support our friends in White Haven at their annual carnival. The food was great and the event was very well attended in spite of a pretty wicked thunder storm. The truck and rescue engine both took home first place awards form the parade.
