FFD Chaplin and Life Member, Rev. Gary Mensinger, provided the invocation last evening at the 2013 Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Medical Conference in Camp Hill, PA. Rev. Gary provided a respectful prayer during this prestigious program.

Chief Joseph J. Stepansky authorized the release of the Training Report - 2013 which exhibited the dedication of department firefighters to improving their firefighting skills. A record 3,229 hours were spent by firefighters during training for the year.

Firefighter James Darvell completed the entire Essentials of Firefighting Program which includes Haz Mat Ops and a Structural Burn Session at LCCC/PSTI. Junior Firefighter Paul Gyurko completed his program which ended with the Exterior Firefighter portion of the program.

This afternoon Freeland held their annual safe trick or treat event on Center Street. Freeland Fire Department assisted by directing traffic and passing out candy there were over 500 children that attended the event.

Last evening the truck loaded up and traveled to Carbon County to do placement work on target hazards in Weatherly Boro. Weatherly Chief Don Weston prepared a list of various buildings and where he felt placement was most advantageous while considering the duties of his engine companies.

Yesterday FFD assisted Valley Regional Fire at the Drums Elementary school with their fire prevention program 350 students and teachers in grades K through 3 were given demonstrations of local fire equipment and went through the fire safety house.

On Saturday night FFD and the Youth Group of the Immaculate Concepcion RC Church hosted a hay ride for over 125 people. The event through the Freeland Public Park originated at the station and provided a fine start of Halloween on the Northside.

After the initial work minor adjustments and modifications are being done on the truck daily just to make it the most efficient it can be. Some installations need to still be done (such as finding a home for Bertha) but for the most part the major work is complete.
Today the Freeland Fire Department and Hazleton City Fire Department presented its annual fire prevention program at the Freeland Elementary/Middle School. The program was attended by 320 students and 25 adults all of whom received education in the dangers of fire and how to prevent, react, and rep...
FFD presented their annual fire prevention program at the Freeland Senior Center located at Washington and Chestnut Streets. The program consisted of a demonstration how to use a fire extinguisher and a fire drill to show how to evacuate the senior center in case of a fire.

Late last night the truck went in service protecting the areas we serve. Three solid days of work went into the project and though the transfer of equipment is not complete, the truck can fully perform its functions on the fireground.

During yesterday afternoon the truck finally arrived in the Northside and the firefighters from FFD could not be more pleased. After 3 months of anticipation the rig is now in the ownership of the boro and ready to start protecting the residents and businesses we serve.

During the mid day the Annual Cruise Freeland Style was held on the Northside. This group presents this annual event to not only promote the passion of vintage automobiles but also to bring people into the downtown.

FFD announced the start of the Annual Fund Drive which is held during this time every year. The drive is the single most important fund raiser of the year and provides the department with over 50% of its operational funds.
