The Freeland Masonic Lodge paid tribute to first responders during a ceremony held in their facility. The Lodge desired to express their appreciation to all emergency service personnel for their dedicated effort to ensuring the safety of area residents and businesses.
Last night Engine 54 crew cleaned the Gallagher Memorial site at the intersection of Johnson and Ingham Streets. Veteran Engineer and new Life Member Bob DeJohn was at the pump panel during the clean up operation.

FFD membership will consider a by law amendment at the 6/3/14 department meeting. The revision will change the start of the regualr meeting time from 7:30 pm to a period of 5 minutes after the Relief Assoication meeting.
Over the past two weekends FFD firefighters complete a Structural Burn Session at LCCC/PSTI sponsored by the McAdoo Fire Co. The class was instructed by Hazleton City Deputy Chief Brian Mandak. Completing the class were firefighters Mike Radjavitch, Nick Heffelfinger, Steven Felker, and Will Moore.

All week department members have been working to clean up the station and apparatus to prepare for this weekend's housing of the truck. It was an intense effort considering our response to the 3 alarm box in White Haven and numerous other incidents in the boro.
Our Chaplin, Rev. Gary Mensinger, was recently elevated to the title of Syncellus of the Byzantine Catholic Church. While he remain in parishes in the Pittston Area, his new duties will make him responsible of all of the parishes in NEPA and Central and Northern New York State.

Truck 136 will be dedicated on Sunday, May 18, at 3:00 pm at the fire station. A full program, christening, and apparatus housing traditions will take place along with a buffet and refreshments after wards.

Since the truck arrived the officers and firefighters of the department having been tweaking compartments and equipment to make the rig as functional as possible. One tool you can never have enough of is saws.

In an effort to improve our operation the department recently purchased more tools for the truck. The Newark 44 Hook was purchased to provide a more versatile tool especially in the tight basements in our first due.

The clean up after the Damenti's Restaurant fire began immediately after the rigs were backed into the station at 0430 on Tuesday morning. The engine had its hose bed packed, the truck had the saws and tools serviced, both were fueled up, and all the SCBA were filled.

Beginning at 0700 hrs on Thursday morning FFD was manned around the clock until late Saturday evening as the Northside over the three day period received over 20" of snow. This along with windy conditions and drifting made for some miserable conditions.
