For the second year in a row the Freeland Fire Department has won the Freeland Little League Championship. With this success on the field the membership of FFD desired to display its appreciation to the players and the coaches for their efforts.

Last night FFD attended the Valley Day Parade and took 3 top awards First place for the Best Appearing Aerial, First Place for the Best Appearing Engine 1500 gallons and greater and the Chief's Award.

Last night FFD continued with their weekly training draft pumping operations was the topic of the night and E55 and crew went to a local fill site to practice and sharpen their skills. The operation went smooth and will continue with E54 next week.

The Chicken Finger Dinner which is held annually during the month of July again was a success as over 180 dinners were prepared. Event Chairman Nick Heffelfinger and department personnel worked diligently over the past week to prepare the food for this event.

FFD firefighters completed their Haz Mat Ops Refresher Program over the past two Mondays both in the station and on the training ground. The first session consisted of lecture reviewing many aspects of dealing with hazard materials incidents.

The Annual PA Pump Primers Muster was held today in Harrisburg and the old war horse made an appearance. Our former Engine 53 was displayed along with many other in and out of service apparatus. The engine again looked great even sporting a new Mars "88" light on its front bumper.

During the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Freeland American Legion Post 473, Chief Joseph J. Stepansky received a Certificate for Valor and Firefighter Certificate of Commendation for his actions at a carbon monoxide emergency in the 700 block of Centre St.
As is department tradition FFD participated in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Freeland American Legion Post 473. The membership in full uniform lined up on the perimeter of the event and paid tribute to the fine men and women who have served our country.
