You know when the first snow is going to arrive in Freeland. The Utility 136 crew were busy placing the snow sticks on all the hydrants in the Boro during the week and then placed tire chains on the engine and truck.

14 FFD firefighters took the practical test for FF1 at LCCC/PSTI and all 14 successfully completed. The candidates also took the written test and the results will be forthcoming during the next few weeks.
FFD offers its sincere condolences to the family of Lucy Kuklis on her passing. She was one of the original "hoagie ladies" who took on the fund raiser to fund the 1983 Six County Convention and after wards, the first Seagrave Truck purchased jointly by the Citizens and Fourth Ward.
FFD and White Haven Fire Co. recently completed the NIMS program which consisted over 80 hours of classroom instruction. Over the winter and fall seasons the departments were devoted to taking the 5 classes which combined are the building blocks of NIMS.

The Annual Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at The Other Side. The meal will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, salad, roll, and dessert at a cost of $9.00 per meal.

Over the past weekend 5 FFD firefighters attended a structural burn session sponsored by Hazle Twp. Fire and Rescue at LCCC/PSTI. The firefighters were assigned various duties on either the truck and engine during this class A burn.

FFD works diligently on promoting fire safety all year long but especially during the month of October. Many presentations and drills were conducted which delivers the message of maintaining a fire safe residence.
FFD conducted a fire prevention program at the Active Adult Center on Washington Street. A demonstration of firefighters gear, information on smoke ,CO detectors and the proper type of fire extinguisher to be purchased for you home was given to the attendees.

Tonight Freeland Fire Department held their annual haunted hayride. There were over 200 children and their parents that rode the haunted hay wagon from the fire house to the haunted public park and then some of them returned to the firehouse all were given a good scare by the goblins in the park.
