FFD Firefighters William Youmans, Gregory Harkins, William Moore, and Kenny Parsons attended the funeral of Dakota Dickerson of Bentley Creek, PA. This young man of 12 years of age courageously battled illness for an extended period and never gave up the fight.

During the past weekend Engineer Stan Quantance attended a PA Local Level Training Course Pumps 1 at PA Fire Acacemy in Lewistown. Stan came to the department with prior experience in firefighting from his past residence in Upstate New York.

FFD was well represented at the 40th. Annual Pump Primers at Harrisburg with both E53 and L57 being in attendance. Jarod Nolt (57) and Michael Whitzel (53) had both rigs cleaned up and shined up for the annual event which is held on the banks of the Susquehanna River.

White Haven Fire Co. No. 1 sponsored a PA Local Level Training Course in Engine Company Operations and provided FFD with the opportunity to attend. Both departments worked together in exercises in hose line advancement, supply line and hydrant operations, and tactics for extended hose stretches.

Valley Fire and Rescue sponsored a coach bus/passenger rescue exercise in Butler Twp. and included FFD in the drill. Valley responded both rescues, an engine, and ALS/BLS units to a simulated accident involving a bus and two passenger vehicles and added FFD to the box for the truck and utility.

On Thursday, June 18, at the Holiday Inn East the American Red Cross Eastern PA Region conducted its 7th. Annual Everyday Heroes Program. The program recognizes heroes in the community which assist the Red Cross in their its life saving mission and deserve recognition for their acts.
