Freeland Fire Department conducted a fire drill at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall Sunday morning 119 students and teachers were evacuated from the hall and the fire drill went very well according to fire department officials.

FREELAND FIRE DEPARTMENT 2016 FUND DRIVE For over 130 years the Freeland Fire Department, along with its predecessors the Citizens Hose Co. and Fourth Ward Fire Co., have been providing the residents of Freeland and Jeddo Borough with continuous fire protection.
The weekend proved very busy for FFD members over the weekend with numerous events and fund raising activities. The department provided the Freeland Mayor Car Show and Cruise with the potato cake sale which as always is a big success with those attending.
136 Utility took 1st place for Most Functional Utility Out of County and 1st Place for Company Traveling the Furthest Distance In or Out of County. Great job.

Freeland Fire Department with Foster Township Fire Department attended the funeral of Richard Henning who was a life long member and EMT with the White Haven Ambulance for 48 years. 136 Truck with 134 Tele squirt were honored to set up the memorial arch at the Laurel Cemetery.

The second chicken BBQ this year held in the Freeland Public Park was another huge success. The BBQ was sold out again with 300 dinners served. We would like to thank all the volunteers and the community for supporting this fund raiser.

FFD concluded its PA Local Level Training Haz Mat Ops Refresher Class this evening. Every year the department conducts this training to reinforce the skills needed for firefighters when responding to these types of incindents.

FFD conducted its Annual Boot Drive on PA940 in the boro on Friday night and Saturday. The department received a permit from PennDOT under the newly establish criteria for this time of event and it again proved successful.

FFD attended the Six County Convention hosted by the McAdoo Fire Co. over the past weekend. Chief Emeritus John "Jeff" Teliho and Firefighter Gerry Guscott attended the banquet, meeting, and memorial service with Gerry again being elected as Luzerne County Vice President.
