Chief Joseph J. Stepansky authorized the release of the Training Report - 2016 which exhibited the dedication of department firefighters to improving their firefighting skills. This year FFD firefighters attended almost 2,000 hours of training.

Chief Joseph J. Stepansky announced the following appointed officers for this year: Chief Engineer - Cal Herring; Asst. Chief Engineer - Larry Stepansky; Safety Officers - Daniel P. Bobby, William Youmans, and John "Jeff" Teliho
Chief Joseph J. Stepansky presented his report for 2016. The department responded to 226 calls for service during the year. Along with the incidents department members attended training, maintained the apparatus, raised funds, and even found time for some fun.

Today FFD held its Annual Meeting to elect officers for the 2017 term. In the past the Chief and Line Officers had to meet minimum requirements to hold their post but this year those requirements were increased to include Firefighter 1 Pro Board Certification and completion of the NIMS series.

FFD conducted its annual hose testing yesterday at the 4th Ward Playground. Over 3700 feet of 5 in hose was tested and all lengths pass the certified testing. 136 Engine and 136 Rescue were repacked and ready for service in less than 4 hours thanks to all the help from our members.

During the past two months the engine made a return trip to its birthplace at KME for warranty body work and repairs. The engine also had upgraded graphics installed to reflect its county designation. Both the truck and the engine now have been upgraded to the county system.

Saturday afternoon Freeland Fire Department assisted in the annual Freeland Chamber of Commerce safe trick or treat on Centre Street over 1000 children and their parents marched down Centre Street with their costumes.

Freeland Fire Department sponsored their annual hay ride Friday night from the Freeland Fire House through the streets of the boro to the Freeland Public Park where everyone was spooked then they returned to the Fire House.
