Friday night Freeland Fire Department participated in the POW/MIA service held at the Freeland Public Park. 136 Truck displayed the American flag and 136 Engine was in the parade.

Semi annually FFD assists the Freeland Municipal Authority with hydrant maintenance throughout their system. This includes flushing the hydrant, removing all caps, and checking the overall operation of the plug.

Memorial services were held for Foster Chief Thomas "Zippy" Zoshak and many paid tribute to his life. PA State Instructor Paul Lesser provided the eulogy and FFD Chaplain Very Rev. Gary Mensinger provided a prayer service.

As in the past years the Boot Drive has again proven to be a major fundraising event for FFD. The department prior to the event applies to PennDOT and receives the permit to insure it complies with all applicable regulations.

Last evening the American Red Cross and FFD personnel performed a smoke detector sweep in Jeddo Boro. The sweep was performed to ensure those residents of that community have the detectors they need to provide an additional layer of protection in the event of a fire.
