Chief Joseph J. Stepansky presented his report for 2017. The department responded to 207 calls for service during the year. Along with the incidents department members attended training, maintained the apparatus, raised funds, and even found time for some fun.

Today FFD held its Annual Meeting to elect officers for the 2018 term. This is the second year where FFD officers had to meet minimum requirements to hold their post and Firefighter 1 Pro Board Certification along with completion of the NIMS series.
FFD officers and members offer their condolences to the family of Fire Police Officer Lou Lindsey, He was a dedicated member who responded to many incidents to maintain safety to the other first responders.
On a cold Sunday morning FFD firefighters continued a holiday tradition of making the Northside festive with the installation of the Christmas lights on Centre St. FAST has been performing the joyous task for years but recently transferred the program to the Department.

Every year prior to the snow falling FFD places indicator sticks on the hydrants throughout the Boro so that in the event of a fire when heavy snow is on the ground, they can be located quickly. FMA decided this year to eliminate that practice and installed permanent indicators on the hydrants.

Every year as the Holiday Season arrived FFD conducts its Annual Spaghetti Dinner and this year it was no different. The event held at The Other Side Restaurant and sponsored by the Kochie Family is always well attended and enjoyed by 200 guests.

The Chapel of the Four Chaplains is an organization based out of Philadelphia which recognizes individuals for documented acts of selfless service. It was formed for the four chaplains of the USAT Dorchester who gave up their lives for others to live.

HFD Deputy Chief Brian Mandak provided the instruction for a PA Local Level Aerial Operations Class this past weekend at FFD. This provided FFD with 4 more truck engineers after this class was complete.

FFD participated with other regional fire departments at a Fill a Truck at the Berger Family Dealerships in Hazle Twp. This event was used to collect much needed supplies for hurricane victims in the Southeastern US.
